In this version, product updates and upgrades are obtained directly through the Internet. The information in the new Command AntiVirus for Windows User's Guide is presented in a task-oriented format. This allows you to find quickly and easily the tasks that you want to perform. The tasks begin with what you need to know to protect your system and keep the software up-to-date and end with the more advanced tasks of customizing scan tasks and settings. COMMAND ANTIVIRUS FOR WINDOWS ENTERPRISE is recommended for larger networked operations that want to take advantage of our centralized management package called COMMANDCentral. In this version, users update and upgrade CSAV from an administrative image. * The default ACTION ON INFECTION for on-demand scans is now set to DISINFECT. If disinfection fails, the ACTION ON INFECTION now defaults to QUARANTINE. NOTE: If you are upgrading from a previous version of Command AntiVirus, the installation will keep your previous settings. * The default ACTION ON INFECTION for on-access scanning is now set to DISINFECT with the REMOVE ALL MACROS IF A VARIANT IS FOUND option selected. If disinfection fails, the ACTION ON INFECTION is only REPORT. NOTE: If you are upgrading from a previous version of Command AntiVirus, the installation will keep your previous settings. * Infections found during on-demand scans including scheduled scans and through on-access scanning are now recorded in the CSAV SCAN RESULTS log. You can view this log from the VIEW menu in the CSAV GUI. * If your computer contains a virus infection that has been detected through on-access scanning or an on-demand scan including a scheduled scan, CSAV now displays a CSAV INFECTION WARNING dialog box when you log on to your computer. This dialog box notifies you that you have an infection and gives you the opportunity to view the CSAV SCAN RESULTS log. * The CSAV UPDATE NOW process has been enhanced to include an UPDATE NOW feature that allows you to check for updates and/or upgrades automatically. In the PREFERENCES/UPDATE NOW dialog box, you can set CSAV to notify or notify and download any updates and/or upgrades. For updates, you can also set CSAV to download and install without notification. The UPDATE NOW process has also been enhanced so that UPDATE NOW only downloads component and virus definition file updates for the version you have installed. The UPDATE NOW status log has been replaced with error message boxes. If an error occurs, a message box containing a textual description of the error displays. NOTE: In CSAV for Windows, the UPDATE NOW button and the ability to set CSAV to check for updates and/or upgrades automatically are installed by default. In CSAV for Windows Enterprise, this Internet method of updating is an installation option. * The CSAV uninstall now gives you the opportunity to save or delete your System Task files, your Preferences Settings, and/or your Quarantine folder and CSAV Scan Results log. This option will also be available during the installation of future upgrades. * The PREFERENCES/REPORTING dialog box now contains all of the options for reporting virus infections. * The PREFERENCES/NETWORK dialog box now contains only the options that affect the scanning of network drives. * The REPORT dialog box that CSAV displays during a manual scan now contains the time CSAV took to perform the scan task. Networked Environments Only * If you select to e-mail a virus infection report, for Scheduled scans, a single report is mailed at the end of each scan. Previously, a report was mailed each time a virus infection was found. * The UPDATE NOW button can now be used by end users who are NOT signed on as a member of the Administrators group on the local machine. To implement this enhancement the Administrator must: 1. Set the AllowLockdownPatch in System or Group Policy 2. Install Command AntiVirus under an account that is an Administrator. 3. Log on as a non-administrator, and click the UPDATE NOW button. NOTE: Non-administrators will be able to update, but they will have to select a site to update from each time they click the UPDATE NOW button. CSAV for Windows Enterprise Only * The UPDATE NOW button in the CSAV MAIN dialog box has been replaced by the CSAV UPDATE button. The CSAV UPDATE button allows users on the network to start the CUAGENT program that implements an Enterprise update from the administrative image. CUAGENT normally starts when a user logs on to a computer. Users can now also start this program from within the GUI. The Enterprise updating process has also been enhanced to include an option to schedule CUAGENT through the Windows Task Scheduler. You can set up this option through the new PREFERENCES/CSAV UPDATE SETUP dialog box. NOTE: The CSAV UPDATE button and the ability to schedule CUAGENT are installed by default. Administrators can choose to replace this Enterprise method of updating and upgrading with the Internet method using UPDATE NOW. You can make this selection from the SELECT FEATURES dialog box during installation or after through the installation program's APPLICATION MAINTENANCE dialog box.
