7/28, 1998

JUPITER, FL (Business Wire) -- West Coast Labs has announced that leading international anti-virus product developer Command Software Systems, Inc. has introduced its full product range into the Checkmark system, for Level Two certification and the continued achievement of Level One.

"I am delighted to be able to support the launch of our new HoloCheck technology engine with the achievement of Checkmark Anti-Virus Level One" stated Dyan Dyer, President and CEO of Command Software, "and to be the first international developer to register its full product line under Checkmark Anti-Virus (Level Two), which certifies products disinfection capability."

Command Software Systems, Inc., was formed in 1983 to bring state-of-the-art software programs to the marketplace. CSSI designs, develops and markets comprehensive data security and anti-virus software for both networks and personal computers. Customers include many of the Fortune 1000 and numerous government agencies.

According to Michael Parsons from West Coast Labs, "Command's registration under (Level Two) shows the stress which they place upon preserving their customers files and data free of viruses and their confidence that their new engine will enable them to take this step forward into previously untested areas of protection. We welcome them to (Level Two) and are sure that their confidence will prove not to be misplaced."

Background The Anti-Virus Checkmark, conducted by West Coast Labs, tests to see that the products can detect those viruses which are actually causing infections in the real world. This gives a clear and independent indication to end users of those anti-virus products that can be relied on. This testing procedure is repeated at least every three months. And, if a product fails to preserve its level of detection, its Checkmark is suspended and even withdrawn if the manufacturer does not improve the product's detection. This means that users can rely on Checkmarked products since the manufacturers are making a serious commitment to the quality of their products and that it is being independently verified by West Coast Labs. Users can easily verify that a product has a Checkmark by looking at the product box to see if it carries the Checkmark logo, or by contacting West Coast Labs. The Anti-Virus Checkmark is the dominant global standard of effectiveness of anti-virus products. All major anti-virus solution developers are participating in the Checkmark system, which is widely regarded as the most reliable measure of real-world standards.
