README FIRST! Command AntiVirus for Exchange (2000)
README FIRST! Command AntiVirus(tm) for Microsoft(r) Exchange NOTE: This version is for ONLY Microsoft(r) Exchange 2000. A separate version is available for Microsoft(r) Exchange Version 5.5 with Service Pack 3 or higher, and a separate version is also available for all previous Microsoft Exchange 5x versions. Please read the Multi-Platform Quick Start Guide. It provides installation instructions and an overview of Command AntiVirus for all platforms. The Multi-Platform Quick Start Guide is included on the Command AntiVirus CD, or you can download it from our web site at http://www.commandsoftware.com/service/tc-quickst.html. The MQCKST.PDF file contains the Multi-Platform Quick Start Guide. This file can be read with the Adobe(r) Acrobat(r) Reader that is included on the Command AntiVirus CD. For instructions on how to install Acrobat Reader, see the README.TXT file that is located in the ADOBE folder on the CD. If you do not have the Command AntiVirus CD, you can download Acrobat Reader from Adobe Systems Incorporated through our web site at http://www.commandsoftware.com/service/tc-viewutil.html. PRODUCT ENHANCEMENTS * New virus signatures have been added in this release. FIXES * Some customers reported that on-demands scans are not scanning mailboxes and public folders. This has been fixed. * Some customers reported that they receive a CSAV for Exchange CsConsol.exe - Application Error when they browse for a location in the CSAV on-access Report dialog box. To start the installation program, you MUST run SETUP.EXE. Running the installation program using the MSI causes an error in the installation. We recommend that you scan ALL files. PRODUCT ENHANCEMENTS * New virus signatures have been added in this release. * You can now turn on or turn off scanning the body of an e-mail message. A SCAN MESSAGE BODY check box has been added to the Task/Properties/Detection dialog box for both the on-access and on-demand scan tasks. * You can now turn on or turn off Event Viewer logging for the on-access scan task. An EVENT VIEWER LOGGING check box has been added to the on-access Task/Properties/Detection dialog box. * A summary notification is now sent to the Administrator for all on-demand scan tasks. FIXES * Some customers reported that a mail alert message is NOT being sent when a virus is found. This has been fixed. A new line character has been added at the end of the mail alert message. * Some customers reported that Command AntiVirus for Exchange is not auto updating. This has been fixed. * Some customers reported that when setting the Administrative Mailbox, in some cases, they could not see the Global Address List. * Some customers reported that Command AntiVirus for Exchange does not recognize users in any Group Object other than a Group called USERS. This pop-up has been removed. * After the installation is complete, you MUST restart the server. * All viruses previously referred to as W95/x are now named W32/x. For example, W95/Nimda.A@mm is now called W32/Nimda.A@mm. NOTE: x represents a name variable. PRODUCT ENHANCEMENTS * Scan engine enhancements have been added to this release. It is now possible to disinfect some script viruses, for example, HTML files modified by the Nimda virus. * New virus signatures have been added in this release. FIXES * Particular types of VBS files caused the scan engine to false positive. The number of false positives has been decreased in this release. * You can now install Command AntiVirus for Microsoft Exchange on the same computer as CSAV for Windows NT/2000 Server. Previously, doing so caused a conflict between the two scanners. This condition resulted in an incorrect warning message that displayed repeatedly and caused slowdowns. Before installing Command AntiVirus for Exchange, make sure that: - Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server with SP1 or higher is running on your server. - You are logged on as: A. an administrator on the local domain. B. an Exchange Service Account Administrator. This account should be the one on which the Exchange services run. - You remove any previous versions of Command AntiVirus for Exchange. * During the installation, the system displays a pop-up informing you that rights are being created for Cyberage. These rights need to be created to complete parts of the installation. * After the installation is complete, you MUST restart the server. * CSAV for Exchange 2000 contains a virus message notification feature. When a virus-infected e-mail attachment is detected through the on-access scan task, by default CSAV sends a mail alert message to the sender, the intended recipients, and the administrator. You can customize the messages that are sent. PRODUCT ENHANCEMENTS * None for this release.
