README FIRST! Command AntiVirus(tm) for Solaris(tm) Command Software is proud to introduce Command AntiVirus (CSAV) for Solaris(tm) Version 4.70.0 with HoloCheck(tm) scanning technology. HoloCheck(tm) scanning technology detects tens of thousands of viruses and includes improved polymorphic virus detection. NOTE: After installing Command AntiVirus, we recommend that you perform a manual scan of your file systems to ensure that your system is virus-free. This is especially important if you have not been running anti-virus software prior to this installation. For a list of international distributors of Command AntiVirus, see the distrib.txt file. Please read the Command AntiVirus for Unix(r) User's Guide. This guide is installed when you install the documentation installation package. The Command AntiVirus for Unix User's Guide provides installation instructions and an overview of Command AntiVirus for Solaris(tm). The cssunix.pdf file contains the Command AntiVirus for Unix User's Guide. This file can be read with the Adobe(r) Acrobat(r) Reader. You can download Acrobat Reader from Adobe Systems Incorporated through our web site at: http://www.commandsoftware.com/service/tc-viewutil.html The guide.txt is a text file that contains the CSAV for Unix User's Guide. This guide contains command-line options and exit codes. A Release Notes section is provided for each release. It contains the following topics: * Special Notes - contains important pre- and post-installation information that pertains to the release. * Product Enhancements - contains information about new virus signatures, scan engine improvements, and new features. * Fixes - contains updated information on previously reported problems that have been fixed. ____________________________________________________________ RELEASE NOTES Notes on Command AntiVirus (CSAV) for Solaris Version 4.70.0 27 June 2002 SPECIAL NOTES * To accommodate for the translation of Command AntiVirus for Solaris into different languages, the product now contains an additional installation package for the documentation. The name of this documentation package is: CSSIdocs-VER-LANGUAGE.pkg NOTE: VER - represents the version number, for example 4.70.0 LANGUAGE - represents the language used, for example, english. The file name for the English version is: CSSIdocs-4.70.0-english.pkg This package installs the translated versions of the following: readme.txt guide.txt distrib.txt legal.txt email.cfg cssunix.pdf The English versions of the first five files are still installed when you install the Command AntiVirus package called CSSIcsav-VER-sparc.pkg for the SPARC platform or CSSIcsav-VER-i386.pkg for the Intel platform. Therefore, translation of these files is optional. The cssunix.pdf file is NOT installed unless you install the documentation package. To install the documentation package, at the command prompt, #, type the following and press ENTER: pkgadd -d CSSIcsav-4.70.0-english.pkg PRODUCT ENHANCEMENTS * Scan engine enhancements have been added to this release: - Disinfection of W32/Klez.H@mm - Improved detection of "intended viruses" and corrupted virus samples that are frequently found in virus collections but pose no credible threat. Detection of these non-working files is enabled when using the -collect switch. - Scanning of MIME-encoded files is now supported. BASE64 and QUOTED-PRINTABLE parts will be decoded and then scanned. Several MUAs (Mail User Agents) save the content of the e-mail boxes in plain-ASCII files. Such files will be scanned if you use the -archive switch. No disinfection is offered for such files as they are treated as archives. - The scanning speed has been improved * New virus signatures have been added in this release. * The following extensions have been added to the default extensions to be scanned list. EML - Outlook Express MIME-encoded e-mail messages WAV - Windows Wave files FIXES * None for this release. __________________________________________ RELEASE NOTES Notes on Command AntiVirus (CSAV) for Solaris Version 4.64.0 09 January 2002 SPECIAL NOTES * This is the first release of Command AntiVirus for Solaris. New features and enhancements will be added, if necessary, in future versions of this product. * Command AntiVirus for Solaris contains installation packages for both the Sparc(r) and Intel(r) platforms. * You can install Command AntiVirus for Solaris using the PKGADD command or using the administrative tool called ADMINTOOL. * Disinfection is now enabled. * A new command-line option has been added.
